ONLINE is committed to providing you with the best bad-debt elimination tools on the market. Part of this commitment involves ensuring safe and secure client transactions. It has recently come to our attention that two active internet viruses, Clampi and ZeuS, are specifically targeting financial websites to steal users’ sensitive login information. To help ensure your internet security, we encourage you to review and implement the following best practices:
1. Always use up-to-date anti-virus and anti-spyware software
Many currently available titles offer real-time protection and automatic virus definition updates. ONLINE does not endorse a specific anti-virus vendor. Please check with your IT staff to determine the best fit for your needs.
2. Make sure your company’s website is not being monitored by Trojan Horse viruses
If you are interested in finding out if your website is being monitored, you can enter the URL for your webpage (i.e. www.yourwebpage.com) into the trojan.Clampi domain search at the very bottom of Symantec’s webpage – http://www.symantec.com/connect/blogs/inside-trojanclampi-logger-module.
3. Evaluate your company’s user authentication
Multi-factor authentication, which requires users to provide a physical token, such as a card, and typically something memorized such as a security code, is arguably the most effective means of verifying users. Other effective methods include strong, encrypted passwords, challenge questions, and user-selected verification images. If you feel your organization is not using one of these methods, please consult with your IT staff or application provider to establish effective authentication procedures.
As always, we appreciate your business and hope you find this information useful. If you have any questions about this document or any ONLINE product or service, please don’t hesitate to contact us at (866) 630-6400 or sales@ONLINEis.com.
